Superstition Mountains
For mystery, history and legends take a 30-minute journey from Mesa by rental car to the Superstition Mountain – Lost Dutchman Museum. Here you’ll learn the story of ‘The Dutchman’ Jacob Waltz, who purportedly discovered secret a gold mine in the 19th century.
Arizona Museum of Natural History
The Arizona Museum of Natural History showcases the story of the Southwestern United States through its nature and cultural heritage.
As well as dinosaur statues and a gallery, there’s a recreation of the Lost Dutchman’s Gold Mine and a three-story indoor waterfall. There is free public parking for your rental car close to the museum, which can be found in the heart of Mesa.
Phoenix Zoo
Opened in 1962, Phoenix Zoo is the largest non-profit, privately owned zoo in the country. It is located on in the Papago Park area and spans 125 acres of land.
There are more than 1,400 animals to see and amazing walking trails to enjoy – fun for the whole family.
